Hausman Road: LP 1604 to IH 10
San Antonio, Texas
Client: City of San Antonio
This project involved the reconstruction of 3.4-miles of Hausman Road from LP 1604 to IH 10 to upgrade the existing road section from two lanes to a four lane section with center turn lanes or medians, curbs, 6-foot sidewalks, 10-foot hike and bike paths, signalization, signage and pavement markings, illumination, retaining walls, driveway approaches, cross drainage structures, and four new bridges and the replacement of one existing bridge. This project is located over the Edwards Aquifer Recharge and Contributing Zone, and as such water quality treatment facilities were provided to treat the initial flush of storm water. The Design/Build Team included Sundt Construction, URS Corporation, Civil Engineering Consultants and Maestas & Associates, Structural Engineering Associates, and Raba-Kistner Consultants.
As part of the Design Build Team, Maestas & Associates was contracted to provide design services for drainage facilities including hydraulic modeling of the Maverick and Leon Creeks and the Leon Creek Overflow, stormwater detention facilities at LP 1604 and IH 10, water quality features, cross drainage structures and storm water conveyance systems. Additionally, Maestas & Associates prepared the project’s Water Pollution Abatement Plans (WPAP) and coordinated with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to secure approval of the WPAPs. Maestas & Associates also coordinated with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to ensure that the Hausman Road drainage facilities and flows met TxDOT requirements.
