Cedarhurst Drive Area Drainage Improvements

Cedarhurst Drive Area Drainage Improvements

San Antonio, Texas
Client: City of San Antonio

Cedarhurst Drive is near Loop 410 and US Hwy 90. The street is bounded on the east by the Springvale Neighborhood and on the west by several church properties. Storm runoff drains from east to west through the adjacent neighborhood and onto Cedarhurst Drive causing localized street flooding. As part of the 2017-2022 City of San Antonio Bond, this project reconstructed approximately 3,500 linear feet of Cedarhurst Drive from Dumont Street to Eaglerock Drive and install new storm sewers in Cedarhurst Drive to alleviate the localized street flooding experienced in the area. Part of the design effort included a detailed H&H study and adverse impact analysis for downstream channel Through this effort, channel grading improvements were proposed within the 60-ft drainage easement to remove a significant portion of Life Church property from the 100-year UD floodplain. Life Church’s private driveway located downstream was also improved to increase conveyance and lower water surface elevations. An extension of the existing easement was obtained to ensure construction and future maintenance accessibility. Project scope was amended to include a bid alternative for new sidewalks on along the adjacent neighborhood side streets.
